Denzak Recreational Design has been family-owned and operated since 1958.
My late father, Joe Denzak Sr., was the original sales representative for Miracle Recreation in the western New York area. He was hired by Claude Ahrens, the founder of Miracle Recreation. My eight siblings and I grew up around the playground business. Back in the early days, Miracle would have yearly sales meetings down in Florida, and the whole family was invited to come and test out the new products. My brothers and I were often involved in playground installations as we got older. My father was not one to just hand over his business without first seeing if we could do all aspects of the job, from selling to installing to problem-solving post-sale. His theory was that the dirtier we got, the more we learned. My mother took over the business in 1978 and was the first female Miracle sales representative, a groundbreaker in every sense of the word. I joined her in 1989. My wife, Denise, and I have operated the business since 1997. Our oldest son, Jordan, joined us in 2023, so he will be a third-generation owner/operator. Jordan also grew up around the business. He attended Siena College and earned a BS in Accounting with a minor in Management Information Systems. He and I are both Certified Playground Safety Inspectors.
